we made it! #3

We did it again!! HAPPY WEEKEND! make yourself a giant breakfast and enjoy the post.

tunes:
Rise to The Sun–Alabama Shakes

Sex on Fire–Kings of Leon

word on the street is that this everything spiced rainbow bagel milkshake(with churros) is the next big thing. QUICK before somebody else 'grams it first!

the perfect accompaniment to your shake? King Arthur Flour's 9th annual April Fool's extravaganza. even the greatest flour company in the world puts their cookies too close together on the baking sheet sometimes.

I found this YouTube channel called Peaceful Cuisine that does vegan recipes with no background music. turns out, the sound of someone stirring together donut dough is incredibly soothing... also, the man making the recipe has very nice hands. and equipment! (the kind used for cooking, not the other kind) the combination of cooking sounds and beautifully simple aesthetics just... just watch.

news!!
one of my closest friends, Lois (aka Fabulois, Fabul for short) recently started The (adorable) Butter Stick Blog. Lois is the only person I know who loves food more than I do–all you have to do is look at the way she talks about mac n' cheese (you might get a little hot) and you will understand what I mean. She has been one of the biggest supporters of this blog and I am so grateful for that. Congrats Fabul, can't wait to see what else you put out <3 <3

on toast:
just cheese. As I briefly but passionately mentioned in the waffle post, I am a firm believer that the best cheese is not gooey and melty, but toasted within an inch of its life until it puffs up and shatters when you bite into it. Now that is how you do cheesy toast, my friends.

This week in Trader Joe's:

Baci di Dama Cookies
Grade: A
These little cookie triplets have already become a staple of mine. I don't know about you, but buttery, shortbread-esque hazelnut cookies sandwiched around a layer of milk chocolate are pretty hard to pass up. They come in a perfectly portioned package so that you don't ruin your dinner because trust me, I could down an entire box of these. These photos are in my car because I could not wait any longer to open them. They are that good!

now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to make good use of my Spring break by doing absolutely nothing.
