about

For as long as I can remember, I have been enamored with the idea of creating food out of simple ingredients. I clearly remember my first Christmas cookies: flour, water, and cinnamon mixed into a chewy brown dough, squished into haphazard snowmen and reindeer and baked hard in the oven. I woke up the next morning to a few halfhearted bites missing from each cookie (Santa's on a diet this year, honey..) and a head brimming with ideas for my next project. I first learned of food blogs in middle school when I came across Elise's wonderful blog, Simply Recipes, and from there it was a short time before I fell in love with the food blogging world.

I am a senior in high school, and I live with my parents, brother (when he is home from college) and cockatiel, Zoop. Since both of my parents are from China, many of my favorite foods are Chinese dishes that I grew up eating. Most of this blog will probably consist of sweet, baked things, however, which are certainly not characteristic of traditional Chinese cuisine– I just love baking.

Dance is also a huge part of my life. It is how I express myself the most profoundly, and how I release any stress and negativity that accumulates during the day. The dance studio is my second home, so if you choose to follow along with me, you will probably hear about it quite often.

I am a total amateur, and unfortunately for you, I'm not really all that interesting either. This blog is basically a jumbled-up documentation of my weird thoughts and culinary experiments and personal stories, but it means a lot to me. As long as you share my two great passions, making things and eating things, I think you'll enjoy your visit.
